My Friends:
I am delighted to reserve a place in the crowded cyberspace where I may meet with old friends and hopefully make some new ones.
Many will already know the facts of my biography. However, for those who do not know me, a very brief introduction is necessary.
I graduated from the Memorial University Of Newfoundland with a BA degree (English), and from The Atlantic School Of Theology with an M.DIV. degree.
I am an ordained minister of The United Church Of Canada. I served in the Newfoundland- Labrador Conference for some twenty years, during which time I am honoured to have served as its president. For the past twenty years, I have served in The Maritime Conference. For nine of those years, I was the senior minister at Nashwaaksis United Church, Fredericton, New Brunswick.
I am married to the most fantastic person in the world, Vera Rowsell, RN. We have three beautiful grown daughters, three wonderful sons-in-law, and three adorable grandchildren.
During my years of ministry, I have been both humbled and honoured by the requests of some parishioners to make sermons and prayers available to them in written form. The present attempt to respond to their wishes is by way of a weekly/bi-weekly blog. The blog now includes certain other features such as musings, recollections, and occasionally audio input. I undertake the writing of this blog with the encouragement and the expert technical assistance of my wonderful family.
If I were to give a reason for this undertaking, simply put, it is to remind people of the victory won for us through faith in Jesus Christ, and to underline the importance of clinging to the Rock of Ages in uncertain times. It is my prayer that the old, old story as told here, may prove to be helpful to you, having passed, as it has, through the medium of one more grateful soul! I wish to emphasize that this site is not created with any monetary gain in mind. To those who suggest it could be otherwise, I would say that if the content of the postings to this site can be helpful to just one person, that will be of more value to me than all the money in the world.
This exercise will be a forerunner to a book planned for some future time. Therefore your feedback and your suggestions will be much appreciated.
May God Bless Us, Everyone,
— Franklin D. Curtis
